Ann Emery, Billy Elliot The Musical’s original Grandma, is to return to the production at the Victoria Palace in November.

Emery, who played the role from 2005 until 2010, is joined in the cast change by Holby City’s Gillian Bevan (Mrs Wilkinson) and former star of The Pitmen Painters, Deka Walmsley (Billy’s Dad).

The new cast members, who will take to the Victoria Palace stage for the first time on 14 November, also include Michael Peavoy, Sean Kearns and Simon Ray Harvey. They join the trio of Ryan Collinson, Josh Baker and Adam Vesperman, who will alternate in the role of Billy.

Based on the Oscar-nominated film, Billy Elliot The Musical is the story of one boy’s dream to realise his ambitions against the odds. Set in the North East of England during the miners’ strikes of the 80s, it follows Billy who discovers he has a passion and talent for dance though he lives in a world where boys are expected to box.

Since opening in London in 2005, it has been seen by 3.5 million people in the West End and 7.5 million theatregoers worldwide at its productions in Sydney, Melbourne, Chicago, Toronto, Seoul and on Broadway.
