Natalie Dormer, Kieran Bew and Polly Frame will star in the Young Vic’s revival of Patrick Marber’s play After Miss Julie, which has extended its run by an additional week due to popular demand.
Dormer is renowned for her performances on both stage and screen, having appeared in Madonna’s debut film W.E. and various television series including Silk, The Tudors and The Fades. She now returns to the Young Vic following her acclaimed performance as Mitzi in Luc Bondy’s production of Sweet Nothings to play the title role in After Miss Julie, which will run from 15 March to 14 April this year.
Bew, who has gained recognition for his various on-screen roles in Alien Vs Predator, King Lear, Hustle and Spooks as well as his stage performances in Reasons To Be Pretty and House Of Special Purpose, will play chauffeur and object of Miss Julie’s affections, John.
Joining them will be Polly Frame who has recently appeared in Earthquakes In London at the Cottesloe theatre.
Set in England in 1975 after the Labour Party’s landslide election victory, After Miss Julie tells the story of a rich young woman whose world is turned upside down after she goes looking for John in the servants’ kitchen of her father’s country mansion.
After Miss Julie is the first of the Young Vic’s Classics For A New Climate productions – a scheme led by director Natalie Abrahami and designer Patrick Burnier, which will investigate different ways that theatre can be made more ecologically sustainable by reducing the amount of energy taken from the National Grid.
Abrahami’s revival of After Miss Julie opens at the Young Vic following the gripping and darkly comic revival of Thomas Middleton and William Rowley’s play The Changeling, which plays at the venue until 25 February.
