Stella and What Remains star Denise Gough will return to the London stage later this year to star alongside Amelda Brown, Brian Ferguson and Rachel Redford in the Royal Court’s Adler & Gibb.
The Irish actress, who won the Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 2012, will play Louise in Tim Crouch’s play inspired by conceptual artists Janet Adler and Margaret Gibb, who were working in New York at the end of the last century.
Crouch’s play, which runs from 13 June to 5 July in the venue’s Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, tells the story of a raid – on a house, a life, a reality and a legacy.
Gough’s last London appearance came opposite Gemma Arterton in The Duchess Of Malfi, the production that opened Shakespeare’s Globe’s Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Brown is a Royal Court regular, with credits including Fen and A Mouthful Of Birds. Ferguson’s stage credits include the acclaimed Earthquakes In London and Black Watch, while Redford will soon be seen in the movie version of Royal Court hit Posh.
Adler & Gibb opens at the Royal Court following the current run of rock star drama Birdland, which runs until 31 May. Simon Stephens’ play, which stars Sherlock’s Andrew Scott, explores empathy, money and fame through the life of superstar Paul.
