As St Trinian’s 2: The Legend Of Fritton’s Gold brings schoolgirl capers to the big screen, the plight of pigtailed, hockey-playing young ladies is also coming to the West End stage, as Daisy Pulls It Off opens at the Arts theatre in January.
Denise Deegan’s 1920s-set scholastic story, which has enjoyed two successful runs at the Baron’s Court theatre, runs at the Arts theatre from 19 January to 6 February (press night 21 January).
Set in the early 20th century, Daisy Pulls It Off tells the story of Daisy Meredith, a scholarship student at the snobby Grangewood School for Young Ladies. Her school life is far from plain sailing, as some of her fellow students are set on making her life miserable, but by putting her mind to the task in hand, Daisy aims to win through.
Daisy Pulls It Off is staged by theatre company Nadine’s Window, which presents three shows a year at the Baron’s Court theatre. Its cast includes Lucy Austin, who reprises her role as the title character, and Rebecca Haigh as Trixie.
The Arts theatre is currently hosting Susie McKenna’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, which stars Gareth Hale as the famous miser. The seasonal family show closes on 10 January before Daisy Pulls It Off takes to the stage nine days later.
