Comedian and star of Grandma’s House Simon Amstell is to perform a special one-off gig in aid of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme.
The former presenter of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Popworld, to which he lent his own special brand of sarcastic, embittered wit, will take to the stage at the Royal Court on Sunday 10 June, with all proceeds from the night going towards the hugely influential playwriting programme.
The Young Writers Programme at the Royal Court is a 12-week course run three times a year which, for the past 40 years, has found and nurtured emerging theatrical voices. Among its graduates are Laura Wade, whose last production for the Sloane Square venue, Posh, proved so popular that it transferred to the West End and is currently playing at the Duke of York’s theatre.
