Warren Clarke will return to the stage for the first time in over a decade this autumn when he plays Winston Churchill in the London premiere of Ben Brown’s Three Days In May.
Brown’s political drama, which also stars Jeremy Clyde and Robert Demeger, plays at the Trafalgar Studios 1 from 31 October.
Set at a pivotal moment of World War II, Three Days In May goes behind the doors of 10 Downing Street into a world of political intrigue when, amid the bloodshed of conflict, some were considering giving in to Hitler. It fell to Churchill to play a clever political game and win over supporters of the peace treaty.
Clarke is best known for his screen work, which includes 12 series of detective drama Dalziel And Pascoe, In With The Flynns, Just William, Red Riding, The Invisible, Bleak House, Down To Earth, Our Mutual Friend and cult Kubrick classic movie A Clockwork Orange.
Clarke, Clyde (Lord Halifax) and Demeger (Neville Chamberlain) are joined in the full cast by James Alper, Dicken Ashworth, Timothy Knightley, Paul Ridley and Michael Sheldon.
Three Days In May runs at the Trafalgar Studio 1 following the widely acclaimed production of Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls, which continues its successful season until 15 October.
