The multi-talented Clarke Peters, whose credits include The Wire and Five Guys Named Moe, is joining the cast of The American Clock at The Old Vic, replacing Giles Terera, who has sadly had to withdraw from the production due to personal reasons.
Clarke will take on the roles of Robertson/Moe 3/Taylor in the production until 2 March. The announcement heralds the second collaboration between Clarke and director Rachel Chavkin, having previously worked together in 2016 at the Lincoln Center on Rachel’s award-winning production of The Royale.
Sweat and Barber Shop Chronicles star Sule Rimi will subsequently assume the roles from 4 March, performing until the end of the run on 30 March. Sule is set to then go straight into another Miller play at The Old Vic – All My Sons – which begins previews 15 April. He’ll perform opposite Sally Field and Bill Pullman.

Clarke is also well-known to audiences for playing Albert “Big Chief” Lambreaux on HBO drama Treme, Alonzo Quinn on CBS crime drama Person Of Interest, parts in Notting Hill and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Broadway roles including Billy Flynn in Chicago and a World Theatre Award-winning turn in The Iceman Cometh.
This unique production of The American Clock sees three sets of actors play the role of Moe, Rose and Lee Baum – a family at the centre of the unprecedented financial crisis of 1920s America. Accompanied by a stirring swing and jazz soundtrack of the era, the show promises to be an epic production of an Arthur Miller classic.
Performances begin 4 February.
