Dancing On Ice’s Keith Chegwin and Olga Sharutenko will star in ice dance spectacular The Nutcracker On Ice when the show comes to the London Palladium later this year.
Playing a strictly limited season from 24 October (press night 25 October) to 3 November, The Nutcracker On Ice will see the Imperial Ice Stars, a 26-strong cast of Olympic, World, European and National Championship skaters, take to a frozen stage for a dramatic, adrenaline-rich performance set to Tchaikovsky’s well-known score.
Led by the television presenter and his Dancing On Ice partner, who won the nation’s hearts with their enthusiastic routines on the ITV show earlier this year, the production will mark the first time in almost 36 years that the London Palladium’s stage has been transformed into an ice rink.
Renowned for their portrayals of classic works including Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Cinderella, the Imperial Ice Stars have performed to almost four million people across five continents in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Sadler’s Wells, Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Grand theatre and Montreal’s Place Des Arts.
The Nutcracker On Ice forms part of an eclectic season at the London Palladium, which, following the closure of A Chorus Line in August, will play home to Barry Humphries’ farewell tour Eat Pray Laugh! during the festive period and the world premiere of I Can’t Sing – The X Factor Musical in the new year.
