It’s often cited as one of the funniest plays of all time and now we’re seeing who’s up to the task of delivering those hilarious lines as the cast of Noises Off has been announced!
In the upcoming production at the Lyric Hammersmith, Dotty Otley will be played by Meera Syal who recently starred in Pinter Three at Pinter At The Pinter. Joining Meera will be joined by Lloyd Owen who will play Lloyd Dallas. Playing Garry Lejeune is comic actor Daniel Rigby.
Further casting includes Lois Chimimba (who recently appeared in the Almeida’s Three Sisters) as Poppy Norton-Taylor, Jonathan Cullen as Freddie Fellows, Debra Gillett as Belinda Blair, Amy Morgan as Brooke Ashton, Enyi Okoronkwo as Tim Allgood, and Simon Rouse as Selsdon Mowbray.
Noises Off follows a hopelessly unprepared cast throughout their technical rehearsal and subsequent performances of a farcical play called Nothing On. But with forgotten lines, pesky props and a lot of backstage shenanigans, it’s just proof that theatre life isn’t quite as easy as it seems.
Noises Off had its world premiere at the Lyric Hammersmith in 1982 and it’s the first time it’s returning to its original theatre. After its original run, it transferred to the Savoy Theatre where it ran until 1987.
This is a brilliant opportunity for fans of the show to see it in London once more and for new viewers to discover the hilarity.
