Star of stage and screen, Simon Callow is to bring his one-man show Being Shakespeare to the Trafalgar Studio 1 in June.
The solo show, which has enjoyed a hugely successful national tour, brings a collection of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters to the stage as it explores the man behind the world’s most famous plays. It runs from 15 June to 23 July.
The South London-born Callow was last seen on the London stage earlier this year, raising titters aplenty as Sir Toby Belch in the National Theatre production of Twelfth Night staged to mark Sir Peter Hall’s 80th birthday.
Callow, who may be best known for his screen performances in Amadeus and Four Weddings And A Funeral, has performed in shows including the hugely successful recent production of Waiting For Godot, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman In White and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Merry Wives The Musical. He has also directed more than 30 productions and written 13 books.
Being Shakespeare follows the phenomenally popular, Olivier Award-nominated End Of The Rainbow at the Trafalgar Studio 1. The tale of the final days of musical star Judy Garland, which stars Tracie Bennett as the Hollywood leading lady, brings its West End run to a close on 21 May.
