The Bush theatre’s collected tales of relationship endings, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, returns to the West London venue next month with a new seasonal slant.
Written by young playwrights Leah Chillery, Ben Ellis, Stacey Gregg, Lucy Kirkwood, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and Ben Schiffer, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover At Christmas explores all aspects of breaking up, from the hilarious to the heart-breaking, with a special snow-dusted look at festive partings.
Inspired by true stories contributed by the Bush’s patrons, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover was first staged earlier this summer, proving such a hit that it has been covered in tinsel, had baubles hung on it and fairy lights draped around it to give the piece a makeover for the Yuletide season. While half of the original production remains, it has now been added to with a collection of specifically Christmas-based tales of splitting up.
The original cast of Ralf Little (The Royle Family, Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Claire Keelan and Michelle Terry return for the show’s Christmassy revival, which may or may not feature kissing goodbye under the mistletoe.
50 Ways To Leave Your Lover At Christmas runs from 8 December to 10 January, with a press night of 10 December, following current show I Caught Crabs In Walberswick, which runs until 6 December.
