US musical theatre star Sierra Boggess, who originated the role of Christine in Love Never Dies, will return to the West End this summer to play Fantine in Les Misérables.
The Denver native, who received an Olivier Award nomination for her performance in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to The Phantom Of The Opera, will replace Caroline Sheen in the role. Exact dates for the change are yet to be announced.
Boggess’ return to the London stage will reunite her with fiancé and former Love Never Dies co-star Tam Mutu, who joins long-running musical Les Misérables next week, alongside Over The Rainbow winner and former The Wizard Of Oz star Danielle Hope and West End regular Linzi Hateley.
French Revolutionary musical Les Misérables is the longest running musical in West End history after opening at the Barbican in 1985. The musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s great humanitarian novel features classic songs including On My Own, Do You Hear The People Sing? and I Dreamed A Dream.
Theatre fans can get a taster of the record-breaking show at free entertainment festival West End LIVE, which is being held in Trafalgar Square on 23 and 24 June. All of the West End’s musicals will be performing at the event that showcases the wealth of entertainment on offer in London’s theatre district.
Les Misérables is also taking part in Kids Week, which, throughout August, allows one child to go to the show absolutely free with a full paying adult, and up to another two children to go for half price.
