A clowder of all-singing, all-dancing felines has been announced to join Beverley Knight in the forthcoming return of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats at the London Palladium.
Olivier Award nominee and current Memphis The Musical star Knight will take on the role of Grizabella for the show’s 10-week season from 23 October to 2 January.
She will be joined in the much-loved musical by a number of performers who return to Theatreland following performances in other West End musical offerings. They include Harry Francis (A Chorus Line), Evan James (The Book Of Mormon), Danielle Cato (We Will Rock You), Adam Linstead (Les Misérables), Jon-Scott Clark, Jordan Shaw (both Miss Saigon), Matt Krzan (Wicked), Mark John Richardson (Billy Elliot The Musical) and Anna Woodside (Dance ‘Til Dawn).
Paul F Managhan, Clare Rickard, Hannah Kenna Thomas and Barry Haywood, all of whom appeared in Cats’ previous West End run will also perform in the musical’s return.
Completing the line-up are Jack Butterworth, Javier Cid, Luke Cinque-White, Emma Lee Clark, Gabrielle Cocca, Georgie Leatherland, Tarryn Gee, Jane Quinn, James Titchener, Marcquelle Ward, Megan Armstrong, Lindsay Atherton, Lucy Brushett, Oliver Ramsdale and Alex Pinder.
Based on T S Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats, Cats follows the story of the Jellicle Cats, who congregate at the Jellicle Ball to discover which of the flocking felines will be chosen to go to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn.
The production, which features an iconic score by Lloyd Webber that includes the well-known hit Memory, previously played at the London Palladium earlier this year, when it received a pair of Olivier Award nominations.
Cats will open at following the current run of Sinatra: The Man & His Music, which ends its run at the venue on 10 October. Knight will give her final performance as Felicia in Memphis The Musical on 17 October.
