Arts Theatre Celebrates 90th birthday

First Published 19 April 2017, Last Updated 19 April 2017

Today the Arts Theatre celebrates its 90th birthday. The intimate, 350-seat proscenium arch theatre, which has been in operation since 1927, holds a special place in the history of British theatre. In 1955, Peter Hall staged the English language premiere of Waiting For Godot at the Arts Theatre, while its stage has also seen the world premieres of Pinter’s The Caretaker and Orton’s Educating Mr Sloane. The theatre was also the first London home of the Royal Shakespeare Company. With such history we couldn’t help but join in the celebration and head to the Arts Theatre for a party!
