To Life – L’chaim! The brilliant Andy Nyman will lead the Menier Chocolate Factory‘s revival of Fiddler On The Roof this winter.
Playing the milkman Teyve, Nyman returns to the Menier for the first time since starring in Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins. He will be directed in the exciting revival by Trevor Nunn.
Fiddler On The Roof is a joyous and heart-breaking story of the travails of Tevye the milkman, his wife, and his five daughters. The musical features classic songs including Sunrise, Sunset, If I Were A Rich Man and Matchmaker, Matchmaker, and should prove a heart-warming celebration this festive season.
Nyman is well known to audiences across theatre, film and television, having recently starred in Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen (West End), the original production of Ghost Stories (Duke of York’s Theatre/Arts Theatre) – which he starred in, co-wrote and co-directed with Jeremy Dyson, recently made into a film – and his numerous collaborations with Derren Brown.
The first London production of Fiddler On The Roof opened in February 1967 at Her Majesty’s Theatre, and it most recently appeared on the London stage in May 2007 at the Savoy Theatre, with Henry Goodman as Tevye.
