Glee and Dreamgirls‘ Amber Riley, Star Wars and Woyzeck’s John Boyega, and Harry Potter And The Cursed Child’s Anthony Boyle are amongst the nominees in the Joe Allen Best West End Debut category of The Stage Debut Awards.
The inaugural ceremony will honour the best breakthroughs of actors and creatives in theatre over the past year, with categories celebrating performers, writers, composers and directors across the country.
Joining the trio in a star-stuffed category are Olivier Award-winner Andy Karl for Groundhog Day, Tony record-setter Audra McDonald for Lady Day At Emerson’s Bar And Grill, Bat Out Of Hell The Musical’s Andrew Polec, Imogen Poots for Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, and Half A Sixpence lead Charlie Stemp.
The Joe Allen Best West End Debut category is the only award to have the winner decided by public vote, and voting is now open through The Stage website. The award celebrates a first performance in London’s West End (rather than their professional debut).
The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in central London on 17 September 2017.
