If, like us, you’re eager to hear what British soul sensation Beverley Knight sounds like performing as The Bodyguard‘s Rachel Marron, you’re in luck.
The multi award-winning songstress, who follows Olivier Award nominee Heather Headley into the hit musical’s leading role from 9 September, has been recording tracks from the show at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. While she was there, she recorded a short video that also features the MOBO winner performing classic track I’m Every Woman and gives a taste of the incredible vocals audiences will be treated to at the Adelphi theatre this autumn.
The Bodyguard, which is based on the classic film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, premiered in London last autumn. Its tale of music superstar Rachel Marron, who is forced to accept the protection of Frank Farmer when she begins to receive threats from a stalker, features a host of songs made famous by Houston, including Queen Of The Night, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, One Moment In Time and I Will Always Love You.
