Funny men and QI colleagues Alan Davies and Stephen Fry are lending their voices to this year’s Lyric Hammersmith pantomime Dick Whittington And His Cat, which plays from 27 November.
Davies and Fry will be voicing the characters Bow and Bells, two puppets that provide a wise and witty commentary on Dick Whittington’s adventures as he journeys to London in search of fame and fortune.
The duo are well known faces on television, not least for BAFTA-winning quiz show QI, which is hosted by Fry and features Davies as a regular low-scoring panellist. As an actor, Davies has had leading roles in television dramas Bob And Rose and Jonathan Creek, while Fry’s pedigree in the entertainment industry includes acting, writing and directing across film, drama, theatre, documentaries and sketch shows, including A Bit Of Fry And Laurie, which helped launch his career in the 1980s.
Written by Joel Horwood and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, Dick Whittington And His Cat stars Steven Webb, Paul J Medford, Simon Knuz and, as Sarah the Cook, Shaun Prendergast. It plays at the Lyric Hammersmith until 8 January.
