Shakespeare’s Globe have announced casting for 946: The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips, co-adapted by Michael Morpurgo and Globe Artistic Director Emma Rice.
After a critically acclaimed 2015 run at Kneehigh’s Asylum, Rice’s family show will be brought to London for the first time ahead of a major international tour of the UK and US. The show will star Katy Owen as the heroine Lily, Mike Shepherd as her grandfather, Adam Sopp as the evacuee Barry, and Nandi Bhebhe and Ncuti Gatwa as American soldiers Harry and Adi.
Based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, 946: The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips is told from the perspective of a 12 year-old, who only has her cat to whisper her secrets to. 946 explodes everything we thought we knew about the landmark events, using music, puppetry and foolishness to tell a tale that promises to speak to us all.
946: The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips plays at Shakespeare’s Globe from 11 August – 11 September. You can book direct from the Globe website.
