Wrecks centres on Edward Carr, an ordinary man, a doting father of four and a successful businessman, whose world has been shattered by the death of his beloved wife JoJo. Through his grief, he picks through his past, piecing together the story of his life, like the wrecks of the cars he so lovingly restores.

Wrecks is a fiercely passionate and unflinching monologue about the nature of life and death, and what society will accept in the name of love. 

American playwright Neil La Bute has frequently has his work staged in London, including two plays at the Bush theatre – The War On Terror and Helter Skelter/Land Of The Dead. Among his other plays, Fat Pig and In A Dark Dark House were both produced in London last year, while his other work seen in the capital includes This Is How It Goes, The Shape Of Things and Some Girl(s).

Wrecks stars Robert Glenister as Edward. Last seen in London in Never So Good at the National Theatre, Glenister has worked on stage for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court  and in the West End, while his television credits include Spooks and Hustle. 

Josie Rourke, Artistic Director of the Bush theatre, directs Wrecks.
