1787: The recently independent United States is struggling to find its feet with the constant pressures of European power and internal rebellion. Over the course of a long, humid Philadelphia summer a group of men – including Benjamin Franklin, James Madison and George Washington – come together to formulate the principles that will guide this new nation.
