At the outbreak of World War I, Albert’s horse Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France, where fate decrees he spends time serving on both sides before ending up in no man’s land. Joey looms large in Albert’s mind and, not old enough to enlist, Albert sets off on a treacherous mission to bring him home.
The National Theatre’s winter epic for 2007 is based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, and features actors performing alongside life-sized puppets from Handspring Puppet Company.
The production is suitable for theatregoers aged 12 and older.
