Twelfth Night, which was first staged at the Open Air Theatre in 1932, follows the eventful lives of twins Viola and Sebastian. Shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria, both believe the other to have been taken by the storm. Viola makes her way in the world by pretending to be a boy, Cesario. Taken into the service of Duke Orsino, she is sent, on his behalf, to woo his love, the lady Olivia. Olivia, though, is quite taken by Cesario, not knowing he is really Viola. Viola, on the other hand, is falling for Orsino. When Sebastian stumbles unwittingly into the situation, everyone gets a little confused.
