Trilok Gurtu links subtle Indian rhythms and singing with elements of modern jazz and rock.
Audiences all over the world have been enthralled by Trilok Gurtu’s burning sense of rhythm and his compositions. For Svapnagata he presents a special evening in collaboration with seven classical Western musicians and an eclectic mix of instruments ranging from French horn, trumpet and violin to the santoor and didgeridoo. Together they perform works including a Bach concerto and the Romanian Dances by Béla Bartók.
The Western musicians in turn perform Trilok Gurtu’s own compositions with him and world renowned Norwegian saxophonist Jan Gabarek.
Trilok Gurtu Orchestra plays as part of the Svapnagata Indian Festival.
