This production is Tosca is a revival of Catherine Malfitano’s staging. The American soprano has a unique insight into the opera, having herself been a celebrated Tosca on all of the world’s major operatic stages. In 1992 she even starred in a televised production of the opera, which was filmed in Rome at the real locations in which the piece is set The show was seen by more than a billion viewers around the world.
In this production, internationally acclaimed British soprano Claire Rutter, who received glowing reviews for her performance in English National Opera’s recent production of Lucrezia Borgia, takes the title role of Tosca.
