Philip Glenister makes his National Theatre debut in This House, James Graham’s new play that strips politics down to the practical realities of those behind the scenes.

Set in the engine rooms of Westminster in 1974, This House tells of an era of economic crisis when votes are won or lost by one, when there are fist fights in the bars and when sick MPs are carried through the lobby to register their vote.

Star of the TV series Mad Dogs and Ashes To Ashes, Glenister is joined in the production by Phil Daniels, whose National Theatre appearances include Carousel, Dealer’s Choice and The Winter’s Tale, and Julian Wadham, who as well as starring alongside Daniels in The Winter’s Tale, has appeared in Much Ado About Nothing, Tartuffe and The Madness Of George III.

This House is directed by Jeremy Herrin whose recent credits include Absent Friends, South Downs and Death And The Maiden, all at the Harold Pinter theatre, and Children’s Children at the Almeida theatre.
