Internationally-acclaimed South African playwright Athol Fugard brings his production of his new play The Train Driver to Hampstead theatre following its premiere at the Fugard theatre in Cape Town.
A tormented train driver is compelled to visit a windswept graveyard in the Eastern Cape to find the unmarked grave of the woman he unintentionally killed. Inspired by a true event, The Train Driver is a haunting and deeply personal journey into the human soul.
Fugard’s plays are frequently produced on the London stage including, recently, Sizwi Banzi Is Dead at the National Theatre, Dimetos at the Donmar Warehouse and Hello And Goodbye at the Trafalgar Studios.
