Starring double Olivier Award-winner Rory Kinnear as London’s most infamous womaniser, Macheath, The Threepenny Opera is a new translation of the epic twentieth century musical of reckless abandon in the face of avaricious capitalism.

With the streets of London readying themselves for the onrushing coronation service, the ever-so-more modest businesses – theft, prostitution, corruption – swing into full flow.

Headed by the grasping opportunists Mr and Mrs Peachum, who look forward to a bumper pay day in the beggary trade, business is stunned by a sudden revelation: ladies’ man and London’s most wanted, Mack the Knife, is back in town.

And Mr and Mrs Peachum’s daughter didn’t come home last night…

Artistic Director Rufus Norris leads a boldly vivacious and comic production of Brecht’s landmark book and lyrics and Kurt Weill’s seminal score, adapted by Simon Stephens.
