Dugald Bruce-Lockhart, Tom Davey and Séan Browne reprise their roles as the Prime Minister, Prince William and David Beckham in William Gaminara’s critically acclaimed play The Three Lions.

Written by Silent Witness star Gaminara, who appeared in the West End production of Twelve Angry Men in 2014, the three-hander offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at diplomacy in action, imagining what actually went on between David Cameron, David Beckham and Prince William in a Swiss hotel room on the eve of England’s bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Directed by Philip Wilson, it follows the three well-known personalities as they make a determined effort to bring the beautiful game home. With missed planes, mistaken identities and misunderstandings, the trio try to keep a grasp on their increasingly elusive goal and, as things continue to go disastrously and deliciously wrong, they discover that three heads may not be better than one.

The Three Lions started life at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 when the trio first took on the roles. Last seen on the London stage in Wonderland at the Hampstead Theatre, Bruce-Lockhart plays Cameron. Royal Shakespeare Company regular Davey plays the role of the Duke of Cambridge and Browne (The Shape Of Things, Arcola Theatre) completes the cast as Beckham.
