Imagination and adventure combine in this new dance show for children and adults, The Thief Of Baghdad, a version of a timeless classic tale.
Three children caught up in the war raging in a futuristic London take shelter in a theatre, where the Stage Door keeper befriends them and starts to tell them a story. Soon they are in another world, one of fantasy and drama, based on the famous Arabian Nights tales, with the adventures of sultans and genies, princes and princesses.
The sounds and sights of the streets and markets of Syria today inspire this production of The Thief Of Baghdad, which has a set design that conjures magic carpets and caves of treasure.
The Thief of Baghdad is choreographed by Will Tuckett, whose previous family shows for the Royal Opera House include Pinocchio and Wind In The Willows. The story concept is by Moira Buffini, who collaborated with Tuckett for the Almedia theatre’s first children’s show, Marianne Dreams, last year.
The Thief Of Baghdad is suitable for children aged 8 and over.
