Sadler’s Wells’ newest Associate Artist Crystal Pite presents her company’s latest work The Tempest Replica, which is based on motifs from Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Presented as an onstage storyboard, with the narrative delivered minimally through the gestures and postures of faceless chalk-white figures The Tempest Replica explores the Bard’s text through fierce physical language and emotion.
In 1995, Pite became the youngest person ever to receive the Clifford E Lee Choreographic Award. She has since gone on to create work for Nederlands Dans Theater, National Ballet of Canada and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet.
