The writers of cult hit The Rocky Horror Show, Richard Hartley and Richard O’Brien, reunite to pen musical whodunit The Stripper, transforming the St James Studio into an immersive and atmospherically sleazy nightclub.
Set in the seedy ‘The Club Extravaganza’, The Stripper follows the investigations of Lieutenant Al Wheeler in the heart of 1961 Pine City, California. With a woman threatening to jump from the top of the fanciest hotel in town, trouble bubbles beneath the surface.
Leading him first to Deadpan Dolores and a subsequent series of dirty secrets, Wheeler’s trail takes him into a dark underworld of strip-joints and lost lonely hearts, where the truth isn’t the only thing he uncovers.
First staged at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch in 2009, The Stripper is directed by Benji Sperring, director of the lauded The Toxic Avenger, and promises to offer an unforgettable story from a beloved team.
