West End festive favourite The Snowman celebrates a sensational 20 consecutive years at the Peacock Theatre, transporting audiences to a wintery wonderland with a magical mix of exquisite dancing and live music.

Twinkling with festive spirit, The Snowman is the story of a boy and his magical snowman which features beloved music including Walking In The Air. The enchanting production tells the story of a young boy’s adventures when his snowman comes miraculously to life on Christmas Eve.

Friendship is kindled as the two embark on a starry-skied adventure to the North Pole, where they meet a whole host of exciting characters.

The Snowman is based on the book by Raymond Briggs, which was first published in 1978 in the United Kingdom. Its award-winning reception lead to it being adapted into a twenty-six minute animated television special in 1982 directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by John Coates, winning a BAFTA Award, and it frequently plays on seasonal television to this day.

The Snowman first appeared on stage at the Contact Theatre in Manchester in 1986, before being produced by the Birmingham Repertory Theatre for the first time in 1993. A West End premiere beckoned in 1997 at the Peacock Theatre.

The show has music and lyrics by Howard Blake, with a beautiful orchestra score including the famous track Walking In The Air, along with choreography by Robert North, direction by Bill Alexander, design by Ruari Murchison and lighting by Tim Mitchell. The resulting production is a much-loved festive tradition of storytelling, spectacle and magic in the West End.

Featuring a dazzling array of colourful characters including dancing penguins, magical reindeer, a beautiful snow princess, her wicked beau Jack Frost and of course, Father Christmas himself, The Snowman is a Christmas treat for all the family and a perfect introduction to dance for the very young.
