A story of courage, hope and friendship, The Shawshank Redemption was a 1982 novella by Stephen King which is adapted for the stage in this Gaiety theatre Dublin production.
The Shawshank Redemption centres on Andy Dufresne, who is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover and given two life sentences to serve in the notorious Shawshank Prison. Forced to endure a spirit-crushing regime, Andy’s inner strength and courage never let him give up hope.
The Shawshank Redemption is best known for the Oscar nominated 1994 film which starred Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins.
This stage version stars American actors Kevin Anderson and Reg E Cathey, both of whom have appeared on Broadway, while Anderson was previously seen in the West End in the premiere production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard in 1993.
