The creative team behind stage phenomenon Jerusalem returns to the Royal Court with The River, a bewitching new story about a man, a woman and a remote cabin on the cliffs.
The River is written by Jez Butterworth whose critically acclaimed play Jerusalem opened at the Royal Court in 2009 before transferring to the West End and Broadway. His other credits at the Royal Court include Mojo, Night Heron and The Winterling but he is also well known for the films Mojo, Birthday Girl and Fair Game.
Director of Jerusalem, Ian Rickson reunites with the playwright to direct The River. He also worked with Butterworth on The Winterling, The Night Heron and Mojo at the Royal Court.
