Families are invited to help bring the age-old tale of Rumpelstiltskin to life in The Rattler, an excitingly interactive retelling of the famous fable of greed and its price.
Told through a series of festivities including workshops and pageants, and through gloriously imaginative music, puppetry and storytelling, the entertainment experience centres on the people of Hobsmoor, who gather once a year to hear Hob and his band of players retell the legend of the Rattler.
While Alyson lives in poverty and dreams of a more exciting life, Crown Prince Aiden longs to live his own life free from his family’s royal expectations. The Rattler hears their desires and comes to Hobsmoor to fulfil their wishes – but everything comes at a cost.
Music and craft workshops open the performance in The Clore Ballroom and Level 2 Foyers at 2pm, before a colourful pageant around the Southbank Centre at 2.30pm leads audiences into the Royal Festival Hall where the festivities continue.
On arrival at Southbank Centre, please go to the Ticket Office to exchange your ticket for a wristband. Please note that this performance carries an age recommendation of 7+.
