Peter Wright’s 1984 production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker is a suger-dusted, cherry-topped Christmas cake of a show which includes the most glorious Christmas tree of all time. As midnight chimes, the magical tree starts to grow and grow, soaring to the skies and topped off with a shimmering shower of golden stardust. Then begins a fantastical toytown battle which leads us through a swirling land of snow to the Sugar Plum Fairy’s enchanted Kingdom of Sweets.
The Nutcracker is an annual event which conjures the magic of Christmas for children and adults alike.
