The Mikado comes to the Royal Festival Hall in the form a special all-star semi-staged performance to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Gilbert and Sullivan’s crowning masterpiece.

In 1885, Gilbert had the inspired idea of transporting mid-Victorian England into an oriental setting in a hilarious tale poking delicious fun at the politics and politicians of the day.

Gilbert’s witty lyrics introduce The Mikado’s comic characters and Sullivan’s bountiful score includes a host of toe-tapping greats, including Three Little Maids From School, Tit-Willow, ‘he Sun, Whose Rays and The Flowers That Bloom In The Spring.

The Mikado stars master of mimicry Alistair McGowan in the title role.
