A high profile cast is assembled for the UK premiere of Douglas Carter Beane’s Tony Award-winning play.
The Little Dog Laughed is a cautionary tale about a handsome film actor who dares to come out of the closet and his tough, ballsy agent who wants him to stay in it. When the actor falls for a rent boy, who also happens to have a girlfriend, an awkward love triangle is created.
The cast of The Little Dog Laughed is led by Rupert Friend as the closeted film star and Tamsin Greig as his acerbic agent. Friend is currently best known for his film work and is making his West End debut in this production. Greig also came to prominence on screen, in TV series including Black Books and Green Wing, however in 2006 the comic actress returned to the stage in Much Ado About Nothing for the Royal Shakespeare Company, for which she won a Laurence Olivier Award, and has since appeared in God Of Carnage and Gethsemane.
They are joined in The Little Dog Laughed by Gemma Arterton, who returns to the London stage after appearing at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2007. Since then Arterton has made her name on film and television with credits including Quantum Of Solace, St Trinian’s, The Boat That Rocked and Tess Of The D’Urbervilles.
Harry Lloyd, who plays the rent boy, was last seen in the West End in A View From The Bridge earlier this year.
