The fast-paced comedy of errors classic The Government Inspector comes to Theatre Royal, Stratford East, as lies, corruption and mistaken identity wreak havoc in bureaucratic circles.

In a fast, funny, bittersweet – and painfully relevant – comedy, the Mayor is in panic due to the imminent prospect of a visit from the Government Inspector, who will surely uncover the misdemeanours he has undertaken in the course of his official duties. So the Mayor reaches the only obvious conclusion; the well-practised art of bribery.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t take into account a simple case of mistaken identity, leading to matters spiralling hysterically out of control… expect a hilarious riot of lies, greed and consequences!
