Indian playwright Abhishek Majumdar presents a play about two orphaned siblings stranded and defined by their troubles in Kashmir.

The Djinns Of Eidgah tells the story of 18-year-old Bilal, an aspiring player in a teenage football team who is torn between escaping the myths of war and cycles of resistance, and his sister Ashrafi, a girl haunted by hope and trapped in the past.

Directed by Richard Twyman (RSC’s The Histories Cycle), the production interweaves true stories and testimonies with Islamic storytelling to paint a portrait of a generation of radicalised children and a beautiful landscape lost to conflict.

This play was developed as part of a the Royal Court’s collaboration with Rage Productions Mumbai and the British Council, which challenged 12 writers from across India to create a play about urgent issues surrounding their changing country.
