Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson brings his uniquely humane voice to August Strindberg’s classic play about an embittered couple whose marriage is soured by hatred.

Set on an isolated island, The Dance Of Death tells of the bitter life led by a military captain and his wife. When the possibility of redemption and escape arrives for Alice in the shape of their former comrade Kurt, it seems that Edgar is prepared to use his very last breath to make their lives a living hell.

Playing aa part of the final Donmar Trafalgar season, which showcases work from graduates of the Donmar’s Resident Assistant Director programme, The Dance Of Death is directed by Titas Halder, who has worked on productions of King Lear, Passion, The Prince Of Homburg, The Late Middle Classes and Polar Bears at the Donmar Warehouse.

McPherson’s other works include Dublin Carol, which was staged as part of last year’s Donmar Trafalgar season, and The Weir, which will be staged at the Donmar Warehouse in 2013.
