The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s classic tale of the Salem witch trials, is re-imagined by acclaimed playwright and director Yaël Farber.

Set in Salem at the time of the witch hunts, but drawing clear parallels with the anti-communist McCarthy investigations of the 1950s, The Crucible tells the story of John Proctor’s struggle to save his identity in a Puritan world where intolerance, lust and superstition mix to fuel as swiftly spreading hysteria.

The Crucible was last seen in London when it was staged at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2010.

World renowned theatre maker Farber has built her impressive reputation based on productions including Nirbhaya, which earned a trio of international awards at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival, and Mies Julie, which achieved a similar feat in 2012.

The Crucible is performed in-the-round, in the reconfigured CGS Space.
