Leon Cavallo’s The Clowns (I Pagliacci) is set in Italy at the end of the 19th Century and tells the story of a troupe of travelling commedia dell’arte players who arrive in a small Italian village and discover that their personal lives are becoming entwined with their show.
Six professional soloists and a small orchestra will join forces with a chorus and a Harlequinade.
