Naoko Kudo’s story The Cat Who Ran is a fable about friendship, loyalty and being true to yourself.
It centres on Ran, the smallest kitten of the litter who is just not up to scratch; he can’t jump, hide or pounce as well as his siblings. So he trains tirelessly to try and improve his cat skills. In the course of his training he forms an unlikely friendship with a fish.
But that friendship is put to the test when all the kittens are asked by their mother to prove their skills by catching the fish in the pond. What will Ran do? Will he remain faithful to his friend or follow his cat instincts and eat him?
The Cat Who Ran is a new play devised by the Unicorn ensemble, based on Kudo’s orginal tale.
Unicorn Artistic Director Tony Graham directs this intimate production, which features live music.
The Cat Who Ran is suitable for children aged 5-8 years old.
