When words are traded in the heat of the moment, rifts are opened which rumble under the surface long after supposed resolution, a theme which William Boyd’s darkly comic new play The Argument explores.

Following his 2013 sell-out production of Longing at the Hampstead Theatre, which starred Tamsin Grieg and Iain Glen, Boyd returns with this dark comedy, asking why it is that the deepest wounds always seem to originate from those closest to us. When embers are created in the heat of the moment, how can they painfully linger so long after apologies are made?

The Argument is directed by Anna Ledwich, whose Olivier Award-nominated Four Minutes Twelve Seconds recently had a well-received West End run at Trafalgar Studios, having also first appeared at Hampstead Downstairs.
