Drawing on their experience of working with Complicite, Peter Brook and Jacques Lecoq an international company of actors, directors and writers have devised a new play based on stories from around the world.
Tell Me That I Am Young And Beautiful hinges around greed, hospitality, sacrifice, knowledge, truth, freedom and love. Seven words, seven stories, seven moments of theatre played in an empty space like a game, magical and dangerous. We follow a farmer as he proposes marriage under the stars in Italy, a kidney donor on the run in Paris, birds coming to life in ancient India, a brother playing dead in Senegal and a young lover searching for truth.
In the process Tell Me That I Am Young And Beautiful explores our relationship with the ‘other’: the stranger on the street, the person who is different.
