Stones In His Pockets is an Olivier Award-winning comedy about a Hollywood film invading rural Ireland returns to the scene of its London premiere.
More than 15 characters are portrayed by just two actors in Stones In His Pockets, which is set in County Kerry, Ireland.
In Stones In His Pockets, a rural community is turned upside down by the arrival of an American film crew on location to capture ‘real’ Ireland for their latest Hollywood blockbuster. When locals Charlie Conlon and Jake Quinn are employed as extras for the film, they, like the rest of the village, struggle to present the Americans’ romanticised Ireland, a stark contrast to the reality of daily life.
Written by Marie Jones, Stones In His Pockets was first seen at the Tricycle theatre in 2000. Its London debut proved so successful that it transferred to the West End and Broadway, becoming an international hit.
This new production of Stones In His Pockets is directed by Indhu Rubasingham, whose credits at the Kilburn venue include The Great Game: Afghanistan, Women, Power And Politics and Fabulation.
