Celebrating the music of five iconic divas – Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Maria Callas – the extraordinary Songs For Nobodies transfers to the West End.

Songs For Nobodies puts the extraordinary vocal ability of actress Bernadette Robinson in the spotlight, as she delivers a critically acclaimed tour-de-force performance.

The production was penned by Joanna Murray Smith specifically for Robinson, and enjoyed its European premiere at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall in early 2018. This West End transfer was immediately forthcoming.

This new play with songs is directed by Simon Phillips and takes audiences on a 90-minute journey accompanied by live musicians. Robinson’s marvellous voice shifts from the smoky blues of Billie Holiday to the thrilling soprano of Maria Callas, via Garland, Cline and Piaf. With consummate ease, she breathes new life into the five legendary performers and the five ordinary women whose lives were changed by their brush with fame.

Bernadette Robinson is one of Australia’s leading singers and actresses. She has been nominated for a Helpmann Award (the Australian equivalent of the Olivier Awards) in 2012, and has performed at high-profile events across the world, including in Tokyo, Beijing (during the 2008 Olympic Games), Shanghai (during the 2010 World Expo), Hong Kong, Macau, Buenos Aires, Singapore, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto.

Joanna Murray Smith’s plays have been produced and translated all over the world and have appeared on Broadway, the West End and the National Theatre in London.
