Shrek The Musical tells the story of the swamp-dwelling ogre who, in a faraway kingdom, embarks on a life-changing adventure in order to reclaim the deed to his land.
Joined by a wise-cracking donkey who won’t shut up, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues the feisty Princess Fiona and learns that real friendship and true love aren’t only found in fairy tales.
Featuring new songs by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori, Shrek The Musical brings Dreamworks’ popular film, complete with its dysfunctional characters and clever humour, to the London stage.
Shrek The Musical played on Broadway from December 2008 to January 2010, where it received eight Tony Award nominations. The creative team behind the Broadway production returned for the London show, which features new songs and scenes.
Shrek The Musical boasts two directors, Jason Moore, whose London credits include puppet musical Avenue Q, and Rob Ashford, who directed the highly acclaimed Donmar Warehouse production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
